This past week I was finally able to finish the "Bitty in Gingham" outfits. These little ensembles were created utilizing the Homespun Kat PDF pattern "Romp and Play." Which is available in my Etsy shop for purchase.
The only modification that I did was with the hat. Since the pattern has a brimmed hat I discovered that removing the brim and just adding a ruffle around it the hat seemed rather big. With the brim the hat fits. But for some reason it didn't without it. So I recut the pie shapes for the hat a wee bit more narrow and longer. And then added the ruffle. So it became a better fitting sunbonnet. Otherwise everything else is the same.
What I love about this little vintage romper is that you can create it either to look like two separate pieces. Simply by making the pant bottom half of it a different color and/or pattern fabric. As I have done with these. Or make it all with the same fabric. I think in time I may modify the pattern where I make the crotch part a little longer so that instead of having it sewn, it can be folded over and snaps added. Just as it probably would be with a real baby outfit.
In any rate, it came out well in the three different variations of colored gingham. The pink being my favorite and so far a favorite of others. The lavender is sweet too and the blue cute for those who prefer their 15 inch baby dolls to be boys. Although I don't think boys would appreciate the bow. I imagine adding some embroidered applique to it to make it more boyish or even more babyish would be an option.
" Boppie for Baby" Since I'm on a roll with the Bitty Baby outfits I wanted to share my freebie! It's a boppie for Bitty Baby and clearly is a needed accessory for your baby. "Boppie for Baby" sews up rather easily and quickly!! So feel free to go to my Craftsy page and download this FREE PDF pattern!
